COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Morning Pointe of Columbia residents enjoyed a day trip to the Maury County Animal Shelter to say hello to furry and four-legged friends while leaving them bite-sized gifts. The seniors brought handmade toys and treats to donate to the animal shelter, which offers pet therapy as a part of the assisted living and memory care community’s life enrichment program.

But this act of kindness is nothing new for the residents, who inspired a yearlong volunteerism project called “Make Your Mark.” Morning Pointe senior campuses across the Southeast have teamed up with local organizations and partners to give back 20,000 hours of community service during 2017.
